Religions recognized more subtle energy/spiritual energy is created & enhanced with a ritual and this is one reason why they use rituals in their services. When the ritual creates an emotional experience for someone, or what we call an “ah hah” experience, the whole experience not only nourishes their soul, some are able to recreate ripples of this energy during some of those recall moments.
These Qi cultivation tools came from ancient times, around 4,000 years ago, so they were initially used with the elements of the earth, fire, water, air, as well as the seasons. The original tools also focused on global and community needs, but because the human body can be considered a microcosm or the earth, we can modify the rituals to fit our current and personal needs.
In this chart, we see how each of the seven chakras are linked and associated with different types of rituals. Each chakra has either a season or one of the elements (such as earth) to help cultivate & develop the energy vibration. What this means is that if we desire to cultivate a certain type of Qi energy vibration in us, we could create a ritual using one of the seasons or one of those elements, and then perform the ritual.
When we create a ritual, we begin first by identifying what the purpose of the ritual is. Do we want to welcome & celebrate the start of a new season, for example? Or perhaps we want to initiate a new beginning, such as "out with the old and in with the new", kind of like what the element of "fire" does (burns away the old brush and prepares for new growth).
Identify Symbols to Use
After you have identified what the purpose is of the ritual, you can then start identifying the symbols and objects to use in the ritual. If you are going celebrate and honor the season of spring, you may want to use seeds to represent new growth.
Use Other Senses
The ritual can be enhanced if you engage other senses in addition to the visual, such as taste, smell, hearing, touch. Engaging more senses in the ritual creation and execution process will cultivate and develop a more intense energy.
Use Other Qi Cultivation Tools
Rituals are a great method of combing and using the other Qi cultivation tools, like food, sex, sound (music), color, movements into the ritual creation and execution process. When you add these other tools into the ritual, the subtle energy created expands.
Create the Ritual Story
Next you would create a type of story where you use the symbols to use in a certain sequence and order as if you are telling a story by using the symbols and objects.
Focus and Intention
During the ritual, as you use the symbols and objects, share the information about what your are doing and why with others who may be present. Sharing what the symbols mean and what your actions represent will allow them to join their thought energy into the process. By adding others thoughts and intentions in the process, the ritual may produce more energy than if done alone.
If you are doing the ritual alone, focus your intention and thoughts on the actions and purpose of each of the objects.
Energy of Love
If possible, add in the element of love into the ritual. This energy will expand and impact the energy as well of results of the ritual.
The ritual is another tool available to help you cultivate and develop subtle energy. The subtle energy cultivate is most closely associated with the fifth chakra, but there are different types of rituals to help cultivate any of the seven chakras.
